Eight-O-Four

This is the perfect solo for students who like to sleep late! The clever lyrics describe a mother knocking on a child's door in the morning. The student knocking on the wood of the piano depicts this sound. The music fosters independence between the two hands as one hand must play while the other one is "knocking." Written in C major, the melody is often divided between the hands and is also played by the right hand while accompanied by harmonic seconds and thirds in the left hand. There is also an optional teacher accompaniment that adds a touch of whimsy to the performance.

Gold Medal March

Your students will feel like winners with this charming solo! The syncopated rhythm of the melody is catchy, and students should have no trouble feeling the tied notes as they are repeated throughout the piece. Written in 4/4 meter, the melody lies nicely between the two hands with the right hand thumb on Middle C and the left hand thumb on the B next to it. The left hand crosses over the right hand in a few measures to add interest and excitement to the piece. The optional teacher duet adds harmony and march-like sounds throughout.

This new solo was written especially for a wonderful little friend in San Antonio whose name is Bryce Thompson!The melody of this elementary solo is divided between the hands with hands-together playing required only in the last two measures. Technical features include two-note slurs and crossing the left hand over the right hand. The words introduce students to the six principal geometric shapes: circle, triangle, rectangle, rhombus, square, and trapezoid.
